This museum is located on land that was formerly the middle ward of Yonezawa Castle. The museum holds many cultural assets connected with Yonezawa and the Uesugi family, including national treasures such as “The Uesugi Version of the Byobu Painting of Scenes in and around Kyoto” and “The Documents of the Uesugi Clan”. There is a permanent exhibit section laid out with the concept “Look, Touch and Enjoy”. Sometimes the museum also has various special exhibitions.
