This museum opened in 1990 to exhibit the work of the oil painter, Shigezaburo Imai. About 400 of Imai’s paintings and other pieces of art from his collection are displayed in two splendid kura storehouses, constructed in the year Genroku 2 (1690) of the Edo period, which were moved here from Tsuruoka. Visitors can also enjoy the vast garden of 8,900 tsubo.
